I thought the light was a gimmick at first, but when it was late afternoon and I find myself inside a building with no lights, the light was great. This is a great hammer drill for everyday purposes. I have tried other hammer drills but for the money you can't beat this one. It has good power and nice features, such as the L.E.D. light. Of course if you are going to use this tool all day long there are better options. I bought the Makita HP2070F for my all day use Hammer Drill and it is a beast.
needless to say, the mak went right back into the box and back to Amazon. Looks like a bunch of LAWYERS designed this TOY.
I purchased this Makita for an employee at his request - and it was cheaper to boot. As a long time milwaukee drill fan (and an extremely happy owner of the venerable Milwaukee 5371 2 sp hammer drill from 1984).
This is not a cordless screwdriver - but a "heavy duty" drill. Now, mind you this is a CORDED 2-speed gearcase hammer drill, so when we plugged it in an tried to use a 1-1/8" ship auger in a 2x6 - guess what - the clutch kicked in - THE CLUTCH.
nice touch for an underpowered drill - like a small drill like this needs a clutch. So I pulled out my 5371 milwaukee and instantly blew through the wood.
In exchange, I ordered the NEW version of my drill, the Milwaukee 5387-22 and it is every bit as good as the old one - and in a totally different league than the BLUE TOY from Makita. As usual, AMAZON was Amazing in the ease of return and fairness factor - thanks Amazon.my 2 cents.
